The general and long-term policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, for the mining sector

   Ayatollah Khamenei :
   �Today, in the new stage of determining the general policies of the Islamic government and after receiving consultation from the Expediency Council, by virtue of Clause 1, Article 110 of the Constitution the first series of the general and long-term policies of the Islamic Republic on the fields distinguished to be of high priority at the Council (economic security, energy, water resources, mining, natural resources, and transportation) are hereunder defined and notified to the heads of the three forces.�

   The general and long-term policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Clause 1, Article 110 of the Constitution notified by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, for the mining sector include the following:

   1. Comprehensive and systematized policymaking and information dissemination in geosciences
   2. Boosting creativity, innovation and access to state of the art technologies, upgrading the educational level, training manpower, deepening research and development of general, economic, engineering, environmental and marine geology for appropriate use of the mineral reserves of the country
   3. Promoting the share of mines and mineral industries in gross national product (GNP), giving priority to procurement of raw materials for domestic industries, exporting processed minerals, making use of the special geological situation of Iran, expanding international cooperation (scientific, technical and economic) in a bid to acquire domestic and foreign knowledge and resources in mineral exploration, establishing mineral processing units and processing minerals into intermediate and consumptive materials
   4. Prioritizing the regions with mineral capacity, paving the ground for the development of mineral and metal industries in alloys sector, precious metals, rare earth elements and producing advanced materials
