MAGNETIC LINEAMENTS
   Based on results obtained from an aeromagnetic survey, magnetic liniments are traced. Lineaments are interpreted using Werner disconsolation in conjunction with total magnetic intensity maps and existence of continuity or discontinuity of both magnetic anomalies and calculation of depth of magnetic sources. Most of the traced magnetic lineaments correlate well with previously mapped faults, and the continuation of those faults are traced where the surface is covered by the younger sediments, in addition, completely unrecognized lineaments are traced which they have contributed either in young sediments or deep basement, However the interpreted lineaments based on their contributions such as depth, displacement and other events are classified into the five groups
1. Magnetic lineaments, possible fault. Sense of movement unknown, most of the lineaments, which are, interpreted in this group they might indicate the contact-between layers.
2. Magnetic lineament, possible normal fault, lineaments in this group interpreted based on their downthrown of the layer e.g. the eastern part of the Kavir Fault near Kashmar which indicates a downthrown of 3000 meters on its southern edge. 3. Magnetic lineaments, possible thrust fault lineaments in this group interpreted based on magnetic data and geological information e.g. Zagros thrust fault.
4. Magnetic lineament, possible strike-slip fault. Lineament in this group interpreted based on magnetic data; examples are strike–slip faults on Zagros thrust, which their relative displacement is evident on total intensity map.
5. Magnetic lineaments, which play an important role on regional geology or tectonics, but recognition the exact nature of the lineament requires, more detailed geological and geophysical investigations.
