NGDIR News Section-New Delhi-A moderate intensity earthquake jolted the Kashmir Valley Monday evening but there was no immediate report of damage or casualty.
'An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the pen-ended Richter scale occurred Monday at 19:29 hours IST (Indian Standard Time) with the epic center at India-China border in Ladakh region of the state,' an official of the Disaster Management Cell said.
He added that the epicenter of the quake was approximately 496 kilometers North-East of Srinagar.
There were no reports of any damage due to the tremor so far, he added.
